Evaluation
For this brief we had to design a pirate tavern I took the time period of the early 1700s Caribbean, the outside view I tried to make basic and not too detailed in comparison to the inside, I wanted to tell a story using lighting and props for example evidence of gambling gone wrong and alcohol. I also tried to add little details in the room itself to show it was run down and old by putting cracks in the walls adding blood on the table/bench and also little marks on the furniture.

Before delving into the design, I created a mood board to collect paintings and images that helped me come up with the rough concept design. I looked into the coin at the time, games, alcohol, what mead barrels looked like, trying to make the design look like an authentic tavern that pirates visit. My design I was happy with as I think I captured the idea of the brief making sure to add story and character to the building.

The outside of the building took the longest as I couldn’t come up with a solid idea for the layout and overall look of the building, however, after looking at some reference photo’s of medieval taverns, from the 17th and 18th century I came up with a simple idea adding old-fashioned windows and sticking to a wood-look as it would have been the easiest resource back then to build with, also taking influences from more period houses with the incorporating of the beams. The roof I particular was a point that I struggled with I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go for a rough tiled roof or a timber one, as I wanted to stick to the wooden theme I decided to go with the timber and in the end, I’m pleased with how it came out.

Commander turn around for media project

These are drawings I did in my spare time, practicing squash and stretch for character heads, also practicing drawing Mickey hands as I struggled with them when I was drawing the frames for my Mickey animation.
Adding from this I also practiced drawing Mickey in various poses.
Coming back to my flour sack animation, I went back and did quick sketches of flour sacks in various poses that clearly show the actions and emotions.

This is a gothic character design idea,

This is a digital character drawing I did experimenting with photoshop and textures.
